Playroom Makeover | The Christmas Tree Shops

This post is in partnership with The Christmas Tree Shops andThat!, a brand I love. All opinions here are my own.

It felt like Christmas in July as I shopped thru the aisles at The Christmas Tree Shops at our local Cherry Hill, NJ location. My mission: Playroom + Kid room makeover!

Did you know The Christmas Tree Shops offer a variety of home goods? That’s right…it’s just not Christmas decor! It’s a mix feel of home goods + Bed Bath & Beyond!

We had so much fun looking at all the mermaid + shark + dinosaur + unicorn decor items. The kids wanted everything of course. So did I! I had to take a moment because I was overwhelmed with all fun finds at affordable prices! To say I wanted everything was an understatement. It was a treasure hunt-like experience. I felt like I won all the gold at the end. The 1st piece we put in our shopping cart was the tee-pee ($49.99). We choose the classic black + white stripe design, and it was super easy to assemble at home!

We almost bought the mermaid bedding sheets + quilt but I decided to focus on the playroom instead of the kids’ bedroom.  But check out the dinosaur print shown here. The full sheet set was ONLY $12.99. The Christmas Tree Shops offer kid bedding in both twin + full sizes.

Both of my kids wanted to take home kid-sized chairs! If you walked past us shopping, you would have seen both of my kids giggling taking turns sitting on all the chairs. I didn’t get a photo but there was a unicorn fuzzy chair ($39.99) that was my absolute favorite! Its perfect for a little girl’s nursery!

And if you’re anything like me, you crave organization and a clean home! But lets get real, life with kids is messy. We ended up spending the most time looking at baskets + bins to help organize our playroom.  There was so many basket sizes and prints. It was so exciting (#momlife)! It took me over 10 minutes to decide on what baskets I wanted to buy! I ended up loving the shark combo shown below. How cute?! I think I was singing “Baby Shark” on repeat in my head the entire time.

A few more items we took home were 2 different mermaid themed frames + a “FINS UP” wall clip board, a mermaid tail door stopper, and the cutest unicorn bamboo eatery set! The Christmas Tree Shop offers so many fun items at adorable prices! Their seasonal assortment is specular and ever-changing. Check out the rest of our playroom makeover photos below thanks to The Christmas Tree Shops!

NEST Salon

Do you like going to the salon as much as my daughter? I know I do!!! We made an appointment with Miss Mariah at NEST in Philadelphia for Kennedy’s birthday last month!

Kennedy wanted her hair braided with some curls for her special day. She was in awe of being able to watch her hair being curled by Miss Mariah.

The NEST salon is usually booked out 2 weeks in advance….all the cool kids in philly get their hair cut and styled there!! Miss Mariah is also a 3x LOVE Award winner for Best Kids Hair Salon. She has the patience of a saint and makes every appointment fun for all ages.

Book an appointment today for that shorter summer cut! Tell NEST we sent you!

My Superhero is FIVE

I can’t believe my Daughter is celebrating her 5th birthday. I love that she choose a Superhero theme for her party. Who doesn’t love celebrating a strong woman?! And, my friends, my daughter is strong + determined + smart! My daughter was so involved in the party planning this year which made it memorable for the both of us. She loved looking at endless photos of superhero cake designs and “Wonder Woman” outfits. With the help of mom, Kennedy designed her custom cake + cookies {The Cookie Queen}, and of course picked out her Wonder Woman swimsuit! Enjoy all the party photos below, and links to buy your own Superhero decor!

Just Between Friends Philly Consignment Sale

Who’s excited for this year’s Just Between Friends Philly consignment sale!? I am! The Just Between Friends Philly Consignment Sale {#JBFPhilly} is happening March 13-17th, 2019 at the Greater Philly Expo in Oaks, PA  (100 Station Ave – HALL C, Oaks 19456). Grab your tickets HERE!

I already have a wish list saved on my phone filled with items I’m hoping to pick up for my kids. The Spring JBF Philly sale will actually be my first time. I feel like I am preparing for a marathon event. I plan to wear my mom uniform of black leggings, sneakers and a tee while I shop. Comfort = quick to grab those items first!

I love a good sale and #JBFPhilly sounds like a frugal shopper’s dream. I’m over spending so much money on new clothing that only fits for a season. Unfortunately, I did not receive any hand-me downs for my children. I wish someone told me years ago to check out JBF consignment sales!

      • Push along car
      • Little tikes coupe for my son
      • Snowsuits in various sizes
      • Barbie gear (I am on a mission to find a barbie vehicle that will actually fit inside her dollhouse garage #supermom)
      • UGGS
      • Superhero tee-shirt
      • Holiday attire
      • Costumes
      • Bike Helmet
      • Roller Skates
      • Water Sandals (size 5.5/10,10.5)
      • Holiday decor
      • Size 6/7 girls clothing
      • Size 2/3 toddler boy

I’ve been asking all my fellow mom friends and past JBF attendees for tips on how to score big during the big sale!

#1 Make a list and go for the big ticket items first!

#2 Bring an IKEA bag, wagon, stroller, etc to carry all your goodies!

#3 Bring a friend and leave your kids at home!

#4 Review all the items you are considering buying (stains, pulls, etc) and check prices/value

#5 Make a budget. That’s right. Ask yourself, do you really need this?

Did you know an average JBF consignee makes $400 or more during a JBF sale?! You can too. Yes, I was shocked at that figure too. Consignors earn 60% on their sold items and there are NO LIMITS on the # of children’s clothing items or other “stuff” that you can sell! You can even use your smartphone to tag. It’s so easy! Click here to find out all about tagging + consigning at a JBF event near you. *Tip: if you don’t have time to tag, JBF has valet service. They have taggers who prep, price and transport your items to the sale…EASY!

I’ve gotten lucky and sold a few items here and there on local mom fb groups but currently, I have over 5 bins full of good/great condition clothing. The JBF consignment sale has my name all over it!

Beary Special Birthday

Theodore is ONE! This has hands down been the fastest year of my life. For Theodore’s birthday I wanted to play on the theme of “woodland” and “bears” since he’s our “Teddy!” The first decoration I purchased was Theodore’s bear cake topper from Etsy. I customized the bear with a white ballon and a black and white plaid wrapped present. As soon as I received the cake topper in the mail, I fell in love with the buffalo print and decided to add more of the print to the party! I purchased a B/W buffalo print table runner from Amazon (cheaper than a full table cloth). And, Little Blue Olive from Etsy also made a customized B/W buffalo print “ONE” party hat to match the occasion! I love their keepsake party hats and crowns.

I ended up buying a lot of decor on amazon for this party. Literally, who has time to shop these days? And, I personally don’t have time to do it with two kids in tow. The “one” balloon, mason jars, letter-board and cake stand were all purchased on amazon. And, to make things a lot easier, I second hand purchased many of the other decor items (digital print of the mountains, 2nd cake stand, cupcake wrappers and toppers, greenery, tree straws, bear print balloons, etc). I got lucky!

The mountains were printed on engineer paper from Staples. I cut them out and glued them to cardboard for support to display as the party backdrop! It was a fun project. My daughter even helped with the glue.

I bought a styrofoam cone from AC Moore and got munchkins from Dunkin Donut to make the dessert tree! The tree took way more donuts than anticipated! The back of the tree was bare since we didn’t have time to run out to buy more!

To fill the party table, I added some additional personal touches. I picked up a B/W XOXO valentine frame ($3) from target and put a newly printed birthday photo of Theodore in it. I framed the “12 months” milestone card by Pearhead. I also displayed a Polaroid photo from his cake smash a few days prior in a cute winter woodland card holder.

For the guests, I requested that they “log in” and leave a message for the birthday boy in the book “the wonderful things you will be.” The book can be purchased from amazon, here!

Theodore’s birthday cake is homemade. I had to buy the cake pan since I didn’t own the smaller circular size (again, amazon). His cake was 3-tiered which I felt was the perfect size for our party size. We had about 35 guests.

The additional breakfast treats were purchased from Whole Foods and displayed in “bear” bowls and on the secondary cake stand.

I used the mason jars for water! I put a “bark” paper straw in each cup and added twine around the cup for a cute rustic touch. If I had more time, I would have created a themed birthday beverage to go with the glassware. If you have any questions about the party decor, leave a message or send me a DM over on Instagram!

Happy Birthday Theodore! Mama loves you! 🐻💙
