Mermaid Makeover at Bowfish Studios

What was your dream when you were a little girl?  I wanted to be a mermaid. Didn’t you, too? I will admit I use to pretend I was a mermaid in our swimming pool growing up. Well, Bowfish Studios is a place where your imagination becomes reality. Bowfish offers mermaid and unicorn makeovers…..and yes, they are magical for all ages!

Bowfish surprised my daughter with a birthday makeover over the weekend! To double the fun, we even got to invite one of her friends. I was so excited for everyone. My daughter’s imagination already runs wild so I can’t even imagine all the nerves and pure excitement she must of felt during her own transformation.

The appointment started off with the girls deciding if they wanted to transform into mermaids or unicorns. Easy choice. Mermaids! The second choice was what mermaid they wanted to be….(aka pink, purple or blue tail).

After both deciding they wanted to become “Brighton” the purple mermaid, the girls were taken back to the sequin dressing rooms to change into their new tee (which they got to take home) and their mermaid tails!

Hair braids, eye shadow, lip stick, face paint, glitter and sparkle tattoos…the girls were in awe of all the fun! At one point, my daughter said “i really love the lipstick”….and this was her FIRST TIME wearing any kind of makeup. I am in trouble!

After the final dust of glitter was placed on their arms, the girls were officially mermaids.  Professional looking may I add.  The girls had a blast posing for the camera in their mermaid tails with their new hairdo + mermaid makeup! Okay, mommy had a blast requesting for them to pose for the camera. Seriously, if you vacation at the Jersey shore or live close by….you must go! Its seriously such a fun experience, and I loved our mommy + me time during this fun adventure! Ps. Bowfish Kids sells the cutest infant and toddler clothing + gifts too….it will be hard NOT to leave without buying something adorable. I am guilty every time.

Goodbye Summer

I hate saying goodbye to summer. It's bittersweet. Every September, I wonder why we don't live closer to the beach year round. There's something in the salt air that just makes life a little bit more relaxing! Don't you agree? Since summer isn't officially over, I'm savoring the last couple weeks of warmer weather + escaping to my family beach house whenever my schedule allows.

I also can't believe this was our last summer as a family of 3! Next summer, we'll have our son with us. I hope he's chill + likes to take naps on the beach!

Don't tell anyone, but I'm already counting down to Memorial Day weekend 2018…..seriously, I am.

Happy Fourth!

We had the best week at the shore celebrating the Fourth of July + my Brother’s 30th birthday! Since my Brother lives in NC it’s not often all the cousins get a chance to play together. From a boardwalk surrey ride, fireworks on the beach, endless beach days, playground visits + kite flying….the kids endlessly played all week long!

What are your traditions for the 4th? BBQ? Party? Relax?

Our family did a little of everything this year! The 4th is always the official start of Summer at the Shore! Its one of my favorite weekends. It’s the first weekend everyone is at the shore with their family + friends. Since having a kid (and now pregnant), I spend most of our time here relaxing! It’s my happy place.

Ps. We also hosted our GENDER REVEAL over the weekend. More details on my next post!

Hope everyone had a happy 4th! xo

Goodbye Summer

I can’t believe Labor Day Weekend has come & gone. This summer has seriously flown by, leaving me reminiscing of all the priceless memories we shared as a family together in Ocean City, NJ {my H A P P Y place}! One of my favorite beach weekends was shared with my Sister & her Daughter. Our father had purchased the girls matching seersucker blue dresses at our local children’s boutique, Bowfish Kids, and I’ve been dying to take photos of our girls in their matching outfits! Kennedy also just finished a mini-photoshoot with BowFish Kids which I’ll post about later on!

Here’s a few shots of the girls I took on the beach one early morning. I’m obsessed with these two beauties. Kennedy loves her baby cousin Charlie so much! Its the sweetest thing to watch them play with one another.

What do you think? My passion is Photography and I can’t wait to share more photos with you.

DIY Engagement Shoot

I love photography, but my fiancé hates the camera. I really wanted to book a professional engagement photo-shoot so I would have a few great classic photos of Chad & I. My vision was fun, casual & candid photos of us in both Philadelphia & Dewey Beach, DE (where we met). As we became more familiar with the costs of planning a wedding, we decided to do a photo-shoot on our own= DIY (Do It Yourself). In my research, I found that the cheapest “engagement” photography packages started around $250.

I know $250+ isn’t a lot of money compared to the other big expenses you are spending for your dream wedding…But it’s $250+ that could go towards something more important!

Luckily, my brother owns a nice Canon camera (somewhat professional in my eyes). I would love to own a camera like that one day! I think it runs between $600-$1,000 (good investment to capture all those new memories once you start a family). I asked to borrow his camera to take our engagement photos at the beach in Ocean City, NJ. I was open to whomever wanted to take our photo….if you wanted to do it, you were in! Since my brother had to leave the shore early, our family friends jumped on the opportunity to help & take our photos! Thank you Krystin, Courtney & Sam! Krystin also did my hair & make-up!

We walked down to the beach around 7:30pm once the sun was setting. We attempted to google & pinterest some “engagement photo” ideas but it was a lost cause….we just went for it!

What do you think of our DIY engagement shoot?!

Grace Kelly-The Bride

Another Barbie I need for my collection…Grace Kelly-The Bride Doll!

American actress Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco in a gorgeous gown that has been faithfully recreated to capture every exquisite detail. The dress features a fitted torso with a sweet row of pearly buttons down the front, while the lengthy train incorporates a lovely lacy insert. The long tulle veil is trimmed in lace, and this beautiful bride carries a small ivory prayer book in one hand and a Lily of the Valley bouquet in the other. Her makeup is suitably subdued for the occasion, with simple pearl earrings adding a sophisticated final touch.

Grace Kelly– Princess of Monaco, was also a summer resident of Ocean City, NJ. Her house is located at the corner of 26th street and Wesley Avenue….Only a few blocks from our family’s shore house!

Kickoff to Summer 2012

Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day weekend is my favorite holiday (Seriously)! I love spending my weekends in Ocean City,NJ!! You will never not find me not at the shore on Memorial Day Weekend. I’m so happy I was able to sit on the beach & relax this weekend. There’s nothing I love more than laying out on the beach (getting a tan) with a good magazine or book. The only thing missing was the rest of family who was unable to make it!

Although there were no trips to the Princeton or AC to visit the new casino-Revel, we had a great low key weekend……lots of BBQ-ing & bike riding.

Hope everyone had a safe & amazing Memorial Day weekend with their friends & family. Please pause & remember those men & women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country! XO
